Coming Up: Meningitis Now’s Five Valleys Walk

Sunday 24th September 2017

This sponsored walk through the stunning Cotswold countryside has something for everyone. You can choose your distance – with the shortest being a couple of miles and the longest being the full 21 miles. You can also start and finish at any checkpoint. Once you’re ready to call it a day, a Stagecoach bus will be on hand to offer you a FREE ride back to your starting point. For more info, or to sign up click here.

This year Stroud Cricket Club will be checkpoint one in Meningitis Now’s Five Valleys Walk. At the Cricket Club you can enjoy a hog roast, a drink at the bar and a shower! Checkpoints open at 8.30am and will be closing 10pm, so plenty of time for walkers to wind down, rest those sore feet and relax in the sunshine before you head home.

All Stars Cricket Launch!

ECB’s All Stars Cricket Programme is coming!

With the aim of introducing 50,000 more children to cricket, ECB has designed an 8-week course set to start in May around national cricket clubs.

Stroud Cricket Club has signed up to this programme, to provide boys and girls from 5-8 years old with a fun first experience of the sport. The activity and game based programme is suitable for all skill levels, giving the children the foundations to begin a lifelong love of physical activity and cricket, while making friends in a safe and enjoyable environment.

Our course takes place on Saturdays 10:30 – 11:15, from 20th May until 8th July

New players will receive a backpack containing cricket gear including a cricket bat, ball, personalised shirt, cap and a water bottle to get them started!

Welcome Dom

We are delighted to announce that we’ve secured the services of an overseas player for the coming season.

Dominic Thompson hails from Hawkes Bay in New Zealand, is 22 years old and is a right-hand bat, bowls right-arm off spin and not satisfied with those skills also keeps wicket. He currently plays cricket for Hawkes Bay seniors and holds his college batting record with a score of 205 not out! Runs like those will be welcome this year.

To all our friends, followers, members and supporters please say hello to Dom (send him a friend request) and welcome him into the embrace of our great club. We’re incredibly excited to be having him here. Roll on summer!

Nets Start This Week

 

Open to everyone! All ages and abilities are welcome. If you’re interested in joining come along for a net; the first one is free!

Senior indoor nets on Monday evenings at Wycliffe School, 18:45 to 20:15 – 13th Feb to 10th April.

Senior outdoor nets Tuesdays and Fridays at the SCG from 18:00 – 18th April onwards.

Youth indoor nets on Friday evenings at Marling School, 18:00 to 20:30 – 17th Feb – 7th April (start time dependent on age group). Youth registration will take place at the first indoor net on 17th April.

Youth outdoor nets at the Monday evenings at the SCG, 18:00 to 19:30 from 17th April.

ECB to Push Cricket this Season

There is going to be a huge push on marketing cricket around England. The England Cricket Board have revealed their plans to create a new buzz for the sport. Starting in March, cricket is going to be advertised on the radio, by celebrities and by every local club around the country. All Stars Cricket is the brand associated with this movement. It is going to target more people than ever, and you are going to hear about it.
